Dancing in the streets

OCEAN Grove was dancing in the streets again for second annual Summer Festival.

Thousands filled the streets throughout the day as bands and locals musicians rocked both ends of the street.

The Go Set, George Kamikawa and the Josh Owen Band were joined by Howlin’ Wind and Sweet Delors on the main stage while a steady stream of the Grove’s young musicians revelled in the chance to perform on a community stage.

Elsewhere the Kidzone was again packed out all day, market stalls lined the street, and a Chinese dragon snaked its way through the crowds. The organisers of Ocean Grove Summer Festival say they were very happy with the second event.

An estimated 5,000 people visited the event during the 10 hours of entertainment.

“The second stage was a great add-on to the festival,” said Huib de Bruijn. “Everyone was able to experience what great talent we have in Ocean Grove, and the opening kid’s entertainment was a big success.”

Huib said that the organisers would like to thank all the local musos that played on the community stage.

“They were fantastic,” he said. “And so were the kids that performed in the Kids have talent show.”
