Good signs at half way

Good signs at half way

WE are now halfway through the season. This gives us all a chance to reflect on the season so far and see where we are at. Tracey has been really pleased with all the Senior girls enthusiasm and attitude each week.
It has been a fairly slow start to the season but there are signs of improvement with good numbers at training, better team play and the indications are there that we are not far off beating some of the teams above us. Finals particularly for A Grade are well within their reach. Bron has been pleased with the positive attitude of the C and D grade girls. They lack a bit of height but they are having fun and enjoying their netball. The new netballers are working hard on their skills and are improving every week.
Our Junior girls have 5 out of 7 teams in the top 4 of each of their grades. Our 15 & Under division one team remain undefeated.
Keep up the hard work girls, train hard and focus on one week at a time and that hard work will stand you in good stead for the latter part of the season. Thank you
A big thank you to the players and parents who help out at the Club each week. In particular the junior girls who have been manning the canteen at home matches and to the parents who also volunteer to cook the barbeque. A big thank you from the Committee.

Round 9 4/6/10 OG 15 v South Barwon 27 Best: Team effort
Round 10 11/6/10 OG 12 v Grovedale 14 Best: Eliza, Chelsea T. and Ellie.
This team is starting to provide strong forward leads, using front cuts and rolls.
All players are rotating regularly and taking the opportunity to both attack and defend, extending both their experiences and skill levels. This team has the majority of possession and use court systems well. The limiting issue at present is the lower percentage of goal accuracy. Recent goals have been scored by Ellie, Shannon, Hannah, Emma and Eliza. Keep up the endeavour and commitment and the results will follow. – Coach: Megan Blake-Uren
15 & Under Div 4
4/6/10 – Bye
11/6/10 – OG 5 v Newtown 10 Best: Clementine Proud, Maddie Maroney.
The girls played a good defensive game in cold conditions. After not playing for 3 weeks it took a while for the girls to get going but they are working out a few systems. They have a great attitude and never give up. – Coach: Jenny Peatling
13 & Under
4/6/10
OG 7 v Grovedale 39 Best: Sophie Spowart, Sarah Gillingham, Sarah Bastiaan
11/6/10
OG 5 v Newtown 34 Best: Abbey Badrock, Michaela Giblin, Hannah Attard
Even though the girls are getting beaten each week their game is improving consistently, the opposition this week were particularly tall. Our girls did really well to keep the ball moving down the court quickly and using speed and good passes to get around the tall opposition. –Coach: Sally Bambrook
VPSSA Netball Team –Maddison Traynor
Congratulations to Maddison Traynor who has made the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association Netball team. Maddie has completed several weeks of trials and is only one of two girls selected in the team from the country regions. Maddie will be training at the State Netball Centre in Royal Park before participating in the National Championships in Canberra from 9th – 15th October. It has been a great achievement by Maddie considering she fractured her arm earlier in the year and has only played two games so far for Ocean Grove. Maddison started playing with Ocean Grove Netball Club in 2008 in the under 13 team at Peninsula and the next year played Under 13 Div 2 at Kardinia on a Friday night. This year Maddie is in the Ocean Grove Under 13 Div 1 team as bottom age. Maddie has also represented the BDNA Under 11 and this year the Under 13 B side.
Good luck to Maddie from everyone at the OGFNC.
