Youth helping youth

LOCAL teenagers are working to support their peers develop far reaching projects.
Last week MISSION (Many Individuals Supporting Socially Important Options on the North Bellarine) the young board from the Youth Foundations Victoria (YFV) site on the North Bellarine held their third presentation night at Parks Hall in Portarlington.
More than 100 people young and old attended this youth led extravaganza that featured a finale by The Rustys and other high quality VET music acts from Bellarine Secondary College.
The MISSION board were honoured to announce two local projects, Bridging the Gap and the After School Education Project.
Police Youth Liaison Officers, Justin Joseph and Paul Harbert presented the cheques to the successful recipients.
Cllr Jan Farrell, local councillor with the portfolio for Youth and Education, spoke highly of the YFV Initiative and congratulated all local young people for their efforts to improve their local community.
Cr Farrell made special mention of the maturity and dedication that has been shown by the MISSION board.
Youth Foundations Victoria North Bellarine is jointly funded by the Office for Youth and The Bellarine Community Bank Branch Ltd.
The lead agencies for the site are Glastonbury Child and Family Services and Bellarine Community Health Ltd.
