In men’s senior soccer division 1 Surfside Waves are finding their form and pushing for a finals place in a closely contested league. Despite some indifferent results the Waves are in fourth spot, with only a few points separating the top six teams in the league. In their latest home match the Waves turned on the form with a 7-0 thrashing of struggling North Geelong with two goals each for Sid Smith and Nick Hargreaves and goals from Stan Nangle, Steve McGain and Tod Mexted. It was a special day for coach Nick Hargreaves as he notched up his 100th league goal for the Waves. In their latest match the Waves played away to league leaders Rangers and put in a really strong performance, in a physical encounter, coming away with a share of the points in a 2-2 draw, with Nick Hargreaves scoring both goals. With only three league games left it is sure to be an exciting run in to the campaign as the Waves battle to ensure their place in the finals.
