OCEAN Grove will be governed by a Labor MP – as will the rest of the country – after two weeks of counting and decision-making.
Corangamite’s sitting member Darren Cheeseman polled 770 more votes than Sarah Henderson to make the constituency the most marginal and rural independents fell in behind Labor leader Julia Gillard at a national level.
Cheeseman has held the seat with a 0.4 per cent margin, finishing on 47,276 votes to Henderson’s on 46,506.
There are plans to redraw the seat for the next election, a factor that some say may make the seat a Coalition stronghold.
